Brushes
A wire brush (jazz brush) and various types of paint brushes can be used on the harp.
Production
Brushes are often used for playing tremolos or glissandi. They can also be used to strike the strings, make whistling sounds and scrapes. Brushes are also great for making sound textures.
Sound
The sound varies greatly according to the material and stiffness of the brush. Wire brushes sound rather loud and metallic while paint bushes sound soft and delicate.
Notation
A brush symbol is added above or below the notes. The type of brush should be explained in the legend of the composition.
