Slow whistling sounds

Various kinds of slow whistling sounds can be produced by sliding the palms of the hands over the strings.

The harpist slides the palms of the hands slowly over the strings of the harp. The palms can move up and down, back and forth or in circular movements.

Moving the palm of the hands slowly over the strings creates various kinds of "sound-carpets"; soft continuous murmuring sounds.

Slow whistling sounds are notated graphically with arrows or circles. A verbal explanation should be included. If a certain rhythm is wanted, the rhythmic values should be included below the notation. (see scape string notation.)

Slow whistling sounds can be produced over the whole range of the harp except for the top octave. In the top octave the strings are so short that the palm of the hand can not lie flat on the strings.
