Range
The range of the concert harp is as follows:
The two lowest strings on the concert harp, contra octave C and D have no pedal mechanism. These notes must therefore be pre-tuned by hand to either the flat, natural or sharp position. On some harps there is no pedal mechanism on the highest string, the top G (g''''). In this case the top G must also be pre-tuned to either g-flat, g-natural or g-sharp.
Left hand range
The range of the left hand is not limited.
Right hand range
The harpist sits with the harp resting on the right shoulder. Therefore the range of the right hand is limited in the low range. In general the right hand should not be notated below the G in the great octave.
